First Generation

GUY WHITE (d. 1676) of Calvert County

Parents: Unknown

Guy White died in 1676 in Calvert county. [Ref] He married Sarah Wright [Ref] before 1666. [Ref] She died before 1695. [Ref] Sarah married second John Evans [Ref] of Calvert county. [Ref] She married third Francis Collier [Ref]

Guy arrived in Virginia as an indentured servant in 1648. [Ref] He was a Quacker. [Ref] He was a juror in Calvert county in 1666. [Ref] He was of "Cool Spring Manor" in Calvert county, now Prince George's county. [Ref]

Guy's will was probated on 21 Dec 1676. [Ref]

Guy was the executor of William Stockden's will of 22 Dec 1666, probated on 31 Dec 1666. William left bequests to (among others) Thomas Wright, Robert Wright, Margaret Wright, Sary Wright, Ishmael Wright, Guy White. [Ref, p. 42] Antonie Le Compt assigned his right to 200 acres to Ishmael on 7 Feb 1655. [Ref, p. 42] A provisional court granted 200 acres to Ishmael on 16 Jun 1656. [Ref, p. 42] Wright's Choice, 200 acres in the western branch of the Transquakin River, was patented to Ishmael Wright in 1665. [Ref, p. 42] "William Stockton, Dec. 22, 1666, willed to Thomas Wright all lands to Mary Wright, Robert Wright, Margaret Wright, Ishmael Wright, Sallie White, Guy White and John Davis, and the friends personality. [Ref, p. 42]

In 1658 the Provincial Court warned Ishmael Wright, William Stogdale and Guy White to be at the next Provincial Court to testify on a cause between John Ashcombe and Cornelius Johnson. [Ref, p. 56]

Guy White died in 1712 in Prince George's county, Maryland. [Ref] He married Elizabeth Griffith. [Ref]

He was the church warden of Queen Anne's Church, Prince George's county on 1 Feb 1710/1. [Ref]

Guy was a Quaker. [Ref]

Guy's will was probated on 15 Dec 1712. [Ref]

Guy White was the 6 x great-grandfather of Richard Milhous Nixon (Guy White, Elizabeth White, Samuel Price, Edith Price, Elizabeth Price Griffith, Franklin Milhous, Hannah Milhous, Richard Milhous Nixon). [Ref]

BENJAMIN WHITE (b. abt 1702)

Parents: Guy White and Elizabeth Griffith [Ref]

Benjamin White was born about 1702. [Ref] He died in Prince George's co., Maryland. He married Elizabeth Smith [Ref][Ref] on 1 Feb 1722/3 [Ref]. She was the daughter of William and Lucy Smith. [Ref]

Benjamin's father's will, probated in 1712, leaves Benjamin a portion of Cold Spring Manor at age 16. [Ref] Elizabeth (Griffith) (White) Miles left her son a slave. [Ref]

Some confusion has arisen because there were two Benjamin Whites on the 1733 list of taxables in Patuxent Hundred, Prince George's County. [Ref] The other Benjamin White married Ann Hilliard. [Ref]

  1. Jane White was born about 1735. [Ref] She married Hezekiah Thomas [Ref] on 27 Jun 1780 in Prince George's county. [Ref]
  2. William White was born on 29 Jul 1735. [Ref] He married Elizabeth Orme. [Ref]
  3. Elizabeth White was born about 1738. [Ref] She married Unknown Allen. [Ref]
  4. John White was born on 17 Jan 1738/9 in Queen Anne's Parish, Prince George's County. [Ref]
  5. Nathan Smith White was born about 1741. [Ref] He married Margaret Presbury Chiswell [Ref] in 1787. [Ref]

Sarah Mary White was born on 2 Nov 1742. [Ref][Ref][Ref] She died on 6 May 1816 [Ref][Ref][Ref], age 73 years, 6 months and 4 days. She is buried in (or at least her gravestone was moved to) the Monocacy Cemetery in Beallsville, Maryland. [Ref][Ref][Ref] She married Edward Jones on 22 Jul 1761. [Ref][Ref][Ref says 24 Jul]

ELEANOR WHITE (1750 - 1831)

Parents: Benjamin White and Elizabeth Smith [Ref]

Eleanor White was born on 29 Apr 1750. [Ref] She died on 23 Mar 1831. [Ref] She married Joseph Newton Chiswell on 11 Nov 1779. [Ref][Ref][Ref]
